Programming USB Dongle

I am  trying to program the (nRF5280 Dongle) with sniffer software, when I reset the device the write prompt becomes active.  But pressing the write the only message I get in the log is 

"Performing DFU, This may take few seconds"

waiting for long time with no other message, is it locked up?

what could be going wrong?

I have not seen that it hangs like this before. This is what it looks like for me after the DFU is complete:

Have you been able to program the dongle with other FW images before, or is this the first time you are using the programmer app? It may also be worth trying another USB port if you haven't alreday, particularly if you use a USB hub.

yes it is a new installation, I have done it before before upgrading to the latest version.  Also, I have tried both USB hub and PC USB with similar results. 

What the app is doing in this step "Performing DFU. This may take a few seconds"

it seems it is talking to the dongle since it is enabling the write feature.

Do you have any recommendation on how to troubleshoot this problem.
