CMakeLists ZEPHYR_BASE meaning

What does ZEPHYR_BASE refer to in the CMakeLists.txt file? I have attached the code from this file below.

ZEPHYR_BASE is set to the location(path) of the zephyr repository.

It is set in SDK\zephyr\zephyr-env.sh

I am confused as to how this works. Is the Zephyr Base set each time for a different host computer? For example, if I am uploading my application to Git, do I need to take any precautions regarding Zephyr Base?

The build scripts and the underlying toolchain should take care of the compatibility issues you are worried about. If you move the code to different host computer and if the toolchain/operating system is different on the new host computer, then those new changes will be reflected automatically when you initiate a new build. The underlying toolchain should take care of that.
