List of devices with continous scanning isssues

Hello,

I've read that some devices (e.g. Nexus 4 and Nexus 7) notify only about the first adv. packets from connectible peripheral and the only solution is to disable continuous scanning and do the scanning each period of time.

My question is:

  • Do you have a list of devices with the same issue?
  • Do you have an idea on how many devices have this issue?

I guess that starting and stopping the scanning each 2 seconds will have a big impact in the battery consumption. Do you have some statistics in this regard?

Thank you very much in advance.

  • Hi JRE,

We don't have a list of device that have this behavior. We have experienced the issue on Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and sometimes on HTC One M8.

I don't think start and stop scanning would cause a big impact on the power consumption on the scanner. Unless the scanner have a short period at the beginning of scanning with heavy duty scanning cycle (scan window = scan interval). But I don't think it's the case with Android phones.

I haven't seen a phone reduced the duty cycle when scanning.
