Programmer app no longer works after updating nRF Connect for Desktop

I just tried updating nRF Connect for Desktop from v3.11.1 to v3.12.0.  I did not see an option to update, so I uninstalled v3.11.1 before I installed v3.12.0.

I notice that I do not get SDK versions above v1.9.1 in the Toolchain Manager and all the Apps are 3.7 compatible.  I had expected newer versions.

Also, now Apps like BLE and Programmer no longer work and report a missing module 'nrfconnect/core'.

It seems like my installation is corrupted.  Is there a correct method to completely uninstall the Nordic environment so that I can get a clean installation?

  • Ok, here is more detail about my problem.  I followed your instructions to uninstall and reinstall everything.

I am trying to follow the Getting Started Guide for nRF Connect SDK 2.1.99:  https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/ug_thingy53_gs.html

I've installed what I believe to be the latest version of the nRF Connect for Desktop for Windows - v3.12.0 from the link you provided.

When I open nRF Connect for Desktop, here is what I see:

The Toolchain Manager version is v0.10.0 and latest SDK version is v1.9.1

If I look at the instruction in the Getting Started Guide, here is what I see:

The Toolchain Manager version is v1.2.0 and latest SDK version is v2.0.2

How do I get the latest versions of the nRF Connect Apps?  Why am I showing older versions when I have installed the latest nRF Connect for Desktop?  Are there settings that I need to change somewhere?

How do I get the latest SDK versions?  I assume I need the latest version of the Toolchain Manager.
