Can't access bootloader on Thingy:53

Hello,

On my freshly received Thingy:53, I'm unable to connect the Programmer via USB (I'm using 3.0.4).

I'm using Linux Mint 21 and when starting the thingy with SW2 pushed, I'm always seeing the application.

For example :

[308962.359200] usb 3-4: new full-speed USB device number 50 using xhci_hcd
[308962.583483] usb 3-4: New USB device found, idVendor=1915, idProduct=530e, bcdDevice= 3.00
[308962.583496] usb 3-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[308962.583501] usb 3-4: Product: Thingy:53 Nordic UART Service sample
[308962.583505] usb 3-4: Manufacturer: ZEPHYR
[308962.583508] usb 3-4: SerialNumber: 79A429B67CADD940

In the 'SELECT DEVICE' menu in the programmer, the detected device is always the app (here 'Thingy:53 Nordic UART sample').

I'm aware that SW2 is the 'small' button next the big SW3. Procedure seems pretty simple : connect the thingy with USB-c cable, push SW2 and switch SW1. What am I missing ?

Flashing through Bluetooth with the nrf programmer app is perfectly fine. This is why the UART service example is shown above.

Is the LED supposed to flash in a certain way when starting into MCUBoot ?

Could it be that the SW2 switch is defective ?

Thanks for your advices,

Julien
