Programmer v3.0.4 does not start

Hi,

I've installed "nRF Connect for Desktop v3.12.0" on Win 10 (Version 21H2, Build 19044.2006) and then installed the Programmer v3.0.4 out of nRF Connect. Installation seemed successful. However, when I start the Programmer from nRF Connect, it does not start: A Window "Programmer v3.0.4" pops up with a waiting-wheel turning in it without any progress.

I tried to re-install everything, performed reboots between the steps but could not get it running.

Could you check the developer console in the Programmer app (ctrl + shift + i), to see if there is anything there when it crashes?

Hi Einar,

the error reported in the console output (my reply above from yesterday) can also be observed in the other tools of nRF Connect for Desktop v3.12.0. I checked it for:

• Programmer 3.0.4
• Toolchain Manager v1.2.0
• Direct Test Mode v2.0.3
• Bluewooth Low Energy v4.0.1

an I got exaclty the same error message in all these cases.

Further information: My username contains a "ü". I've seen tha app.asar is located in the userprofile.

Hi Einar,

well, the version did not solve the issue, but I found a workaround. I guess the "ü" in my username is the issue and nRF Connect installs by default in the user-folder.

Hence, I moved the whole folder "nrfconnect" from my user-folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\nrfconnect and it works fine, as far as I can tell now.

Do you see an issue with this workaround or is there a better solution?

Until the issue is fixed, your workaround is probably the best solution.
