THINGY 53 : remove the DCDC between Li-ion cell and the system ?

Dear,

I would like to remove the DCDC converter in between the li-ion cell which is supplying the system and the system.

The idea is to use our micro battery as the supply and the voltage is about 2.7V. I will use a boost converter to provide a 3.3V but I am wondering if I can remove the U15 IC and provide a 3.3V to VREG.

Should I also connect the VLi-ion to VREG because the SW needs the BATTERY signal (measuring the voltage of the battery) ?

About the U15 power switch, what is the purpose of this switch ?

About the sensors, I would like to switch them off by SW, how to you recommend me to proceed ? I am not familiar with SW design so do you think this is feasible ?

Thank you for your time,

Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,

I am not sure what exactly you are referring to when you say regulator and U15. The Thingy53 does only have one regulator if we don't consider the power management chip nPM1100 (U3) . And that would be U6, its the 3.3V regulator.

Why would you like to use a different battery?

You can pull down the SENS_PWR_CTRL, this will power off the sensors.
