Power supply efficiency, power consumption nRF5340

Hello All,

I have few questions below:

- What is the efficiency of the embedded DC/DC converters in the nRF53 circuit? What is the difference in efficiency when the circuit operates in High-Voltage mode and Normal-Voltage mode?

- What is the efficiency in relation to the supply voltage, as the design assumes the use of battery power and long operating times on the cell are expected (e.g. at 2V and at 4V)?

- Is there any information on what voltages are supplied: Application Core and RF Core?

Thank you.

  • Hi again

Since the regulators on the nRF53 are automatically switched between different modes based on load, our experience is that providing definite answers to these kinds of questions. I would strongly recommend using the Online Power Profiler to see how the current consumption of an application changes based on voltage, regulator used, and other parameters. You can see how the radio TX/RX current peaks changes, for example.

So, unfortunately we do not have any specific numbers on the efficiency for the nRF5340 for you.

    Best regards,

    Simon
