Testing nRF5340 wirelessly

Hi,

I need to test the BLE of a nRF5340-CLAA and nRF21540 but my knowledge in this area is practically zero. The chip is already built in so I can't connect any cables, but it can be put in "pairing" mode via buttons. Is there an easy and wireless way to test if the device is in pairing mode? Can the dev kit be used for this or do I need some other hardware ?

  • Hello,

I would like to know a bit more about your testing; for example, your hardware setups; what you would intend to do with the nRF21540 and nRF5340. You can send a picture of your setup.

Pairing is when Central and peripheral devices exchange the encrypted keys, which is authenticated and accepted to establish the connection.

Normally, the pairing between central and peripheral can be observed from the nRF Connect mobile application (for both android and IoS) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) application on NCS (nRF Connect for Desktop - nordicsemi.com).  Bluetooth Low Energy Connectivity testing supports auto detection of connected development kits and firmware uploads along with supporting BLE security features. You can scan the advertising devices and discover their services, maintain the connection and the connection parameters, pair the device and change the server setup for the local device. You can see the paring of devices (encrypting the connection without storing bond information (no Long-Term Key)) from the BLE app (https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ug_nrfconnect_ble/UG/nRF_Connect_BLE/nRF_Connect_Pairing_devices.html?cp=10_3_0_7).

    Thanks.
