nRF51822 ble in aluminum enclosure?

Hi, is it possible to mount a nRF51822 in an aluminum enclosure and use ble? I am looking for a range of up to ten meters in an open area. Is that possible or will the aluminum blobk to much of the signal? Thanks.

Think of the metal enclosure like a wall blocking light. It was basically cast an RF shadow in that direction. If you can place your antenna outside the enclosure and common the enclosure to RF ground, you won't have any issue. But if your antenna in contained inside the enclosure, its basically a Faraday cage. You'll be lucky to get 1m.
