The SDK has not been tested in IAR v9. 

If you open the release notes there is a section called "Notes for IAR 8 users" that lists all the changes you have to do to make the SDK build in IAR v8. If you're lucky these changes might get the examples to build in IAR v9 as well. 

If not I recommend installing IAR v8.

Then I would just have to recommend to stick to IAR v8. 

The nRF5 SDK is no longer under active development, and we don't really issue updates unless some critical issues are found.
