FCC (and CE) certification

My name is Thomas Ramberg and I'm the founder of Dory in Norway (dorysign.com) an upcoming product that is using the Nordic nRF52840 chip. We are about to do CE and FCC certification and I found some documents here on the DevZone provided by Amanda Hsieh. But the possible certification partner asked for a FCC ID on the FCC reports. I would be grateful if anyone could help out on the subject.

From the partner: «The quotation is ready. However, i did not find the FCC ID information in the FCC reports of the BLE Module nRF52840-DK attached. I need to put the FCC ID information in our quotation and latter in the epaper display's FCC report. Could you help to provide the FCC ID of this BLE Module nRF52840-DK ?»

And also; I guess the actual chip is without the "-DK" part? (dev kit?)

Thanks in advance!

Thomas R.

  • The chip itself can't be pre-certified and have a FCC ID. as there are external component that have impact on the performance. You would would need a complete module to re-use the FCC ID. The documents you refer to are not complete FCC reports, it's just to demonstrate that it's possible to have the reference design certified.

Unless you're using a module with an existing ID, you need to do all testing again.
