pc-ble-driver and pc-ble-driver-py continuity

Hello,

I have understood that the pc-ble-driver library is currently in maintenance mode[1] and not getting new features anymore.
We are using pc-ble-driver-py library, which uses pc-ble-driver under the hoods, as a main provider of Bluetooth LE functionality to our test tool. We have been contributing a few bug fixes to both pc-ble-driver and pc-ble-driver-py to make them more robust. Unfortunately there hasn't been pc-ble-driver release for very long time
Would it be possible to get a new release of the pc-ble-driver library anytime soon and then after that, pc-ble-driver-py release with the latest pc-ble-driver version?
In the longer term, do you have plans to publish anything similar to pc-ble-driver which would allow serialization of nRF Connect SDK based APIs and a way to access them from applications running on pc?
Best regards,
Matias

  • Hi Matias

The pc-ble-driver is indeed in maintenance mode. I will let our team know that you have contributed bug fixes, but I can't guarantee that they will be added any time soon I'm afraid.

Regarding a replacement, we here on DevZone won't comment or speculate on upcoming features or tools as we focus on what's currently available. For now, we recommend using the Zephyr Bluetooth LE shell. I know this isn't as extensive as the Programming API that is pc-ble-driver. If you want details on upcoming features, roadmaps, etc. please contact the regional sales manager of your area. If you don't know who this is, let me know and I'll help you get in touch.

    Best regards,

    Simon
