Using nRF connect SDK with non-nordic boards?

Hi,

I've written an app for the nRF52840 dev board using the nRF connect SDK. Now I'd like to port the app to the STM32F4 discovery dev board. I've managed to get the app to compile for the stm32 board by adding 'hal_stm32' to 'name-allowlist' in 'nrf/west.yml', but I don't know if this is a reasonable solution. Is it a good idea to use nRF connect SDK to build apps for non-nordic boards or am I likely to run into problems later down the line?

If you are writing code for non-Nordic boards, I suggest to use vanilla Zephyr in stead of Nordic's fork. 

Nordic's modification don't apply to non-Nordic boards, as such, not having those modification doesn't bring any benefit, 

and as it is never intended to work with non-Nordic boards it is never tested. Therefore, vanilla Zephyr would be safer for STM32 boards.

Hi,

If you are using the sdk-nrf repo, and use software components(drivers/libraries, etc) from there, and put that it into a STM chip, you will violate condition 4 in our license.
