Zigbee radio channel selection and change during run time

Hello,

We developed with nRF5240 using nRF5 SDK a zigbee coordinator.

We know that the stack is doing channel scan before forming the network to select the radio channel to work.

Moreover we know also that the stack could also change the radio channel if it is to noisy to work in a more quite enviroment.

Can you provide to us more detail how stack selects the radio channel and especially when it is move to another channel?

Would be good to know:

- How stack detect that the radio channel is to noisy (from retransmission number? LQI? performing a channel scan?)

- Is the scan procedure looking for noise level in each channel? Is it happen also at run time?

Hello Giacomo,

It performs an energy scan. There's more info about this in the Zigbee specification and 802.15.4 specification. Routers and coordinator track transmit failures, and if this number gets high then it can conduct energy scans, but I don't think the coordinator does checks at runtime unless there is a reason to.
