Can nRF5340 DK audio board just work as Host?

Hi Nordic Team,

We want to verify controller functions on our own chip with core5.2, so I want to connect it with nRF5340 board by HCI uart, so that I can verify CIS or BIS functions of our chip.

So how can I realize it on nRF5340 DK audio board which works as Host?

Best regards,

Handom

  • Hi Handom,

    The default uart output can be viewed in the board itself, for instance here:

    https://github.com/nrfconnect/sdk-nrf/blob/main/boards/arm/nrf5340_audio_dk_nrf5340/nrf5340_audio_dk_nrf5340_cpuapp_common-pinctrl.dtsi

    Please note that for both the nRF53-DK and the audio-DK, the default uart0 is routed to an external USB/UART bridge.

    To change the pins for uart0 you can create the file my_project/boards/($BOARD).overlay

    As an example, if the board is nrf5340_audio_dk_nrf5340, then the path is:

    ../my_project/boards/nrf5340_audio_dk_nrf5340_cpuapp.overlay

    Here's an example on how the pin-out can be changed:

    &pinctrl {
    	uart_0_my_pinout: uart_0_my_pinout {
    		group1 {
    			psels = <NRF_PSEL(UART_TX, 1, 9)>,
    				<NRF_PSEL(UART_RX, 1, 8)>,
    				<NRF_PSEL(UART_RTS, 0, 31)>,
    				<NRF_PSEL(UART_CTS, 1, 0)>;
    		};
    	};

    	uart_0_my_pinout_sleep: uart_0_my_pinout_sleep {
    		group1 {
    			psels = <NRF_PSEL(UART_TX, 1, 9)>,
    				<NRF_PSEL(UART_RX, 1, 8)>,
    				<NRF_PSEL(UART_RTS, 0, 31)>,
    				<NRF_PSEL(UART_CTS, 1, 0)>;
    			    low-power-enable;
    		};
    	};
    };

    &uart0 {
    	status = "okay";
    	current-speed = <115200>;
    	pinctrl-0 = <&uart_0_my_pinout>;
    	pinctrl-1 = <&uart_0_my_pinout_sleep>;
    	pinctrl-names = "default", "sleep";
    };

    Remember to re-generate the build (ie. delete the build-catalog and create a new one) after making changes to the DT overlay.

    Kind regards,

    Håkon
