Questions about Release Notes of NCS 2.2

1 I didn't understand ANT on nRF5340 under Highlights. I didn't find the introduction I thought of in the following article.

2  Added the CONFIG_ESB_DYNAMIC_INTERRUPTS Kconfig option to enable direct dynamic interrupts. Can you introduce this point?

  • Hello,

It turns out we have a nice introduction to ANT on the nRF5340 on our Youtube channel. I think it will answer many of your questions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg2p-scEyUA

Regarding CONFIG_ESB_DYNAMIC_INTERRUPTS, the Kconfig documentation says the following:

This option configures ESB IRQ handlers using direct dynamic interrupts. This allows reconfiguring ESB_SYS_TIMER_IRQn, ESB_EVT_IRQ, and RADIO_IRQn handlers during runtime when ESB is uninitialized.

In Zephyr, a direct interrupt is a lower latency "lightweight" interrupt that supports fewer features than regular interrupts. A dynamic interrupt is an interrupt that allows its parameters to be set at runtime. On our Cortex-M devices, there is support for interrupts that are both dynamic and direct. See interrupts.

In practice, this Kconfig option gives you the ability to switch between ESB (Enhanced Shock Burst) and BLE at run-time, by enabling "direct dynamic interrupts" in ESB.

You can look at the pull request for this new addition here: https://github.com/nrfconnect/sdk-nrf/pull/9347/files

    Best regards,
