Getting a hard fault

Hi all,

I'm new to embedded programing with Nordic I'm using the evaluation of Fanstel EV-BC805M.
I was trying to program the basic program for blinky led, however by the time I ran the program I got a HardFault
before I got to the first line of  main function.
I assume this cause due to some initialization the code do before it runs my code. 

One of collogues that use another MCU says that I might have use SoftDevice. I read the expiation of soft device but couldn't understand what it should solve my issue.
Please someone can explain what is the use of SoftDevice and why it cause to HardFault I add the code of my blinky led.

Hello, 

Which project configuration did you use (pca10040e, pca10056, etc) when you built the blinky project? Hardfaults before reaching main() are typically caused by incorrect linker settings (i.e. invalid memory configuration for the target device). 

Instructions on how to configure the linker for the nRF52805 is described in this guide:  Developing for the nRF52805 with nRF5 SDK

Hi,

pca10040 is for the nRF52 DK board which targets the 52832 with 64K RAM whereas your chip only has 24K. Try the pca10040e project instead. This configuration is really for the 52810, but it may work still as it shares the same memory configuration as the 52805 has.
