Hi there
I am currently developing a custom wireless protocol for the nRF52805. To do this I am programming the Radio registers directly. In other words, I am not using the Soft device. I am using the 1MBit BLE mode, 1MHz spacing, 40 channels. I am also using on air and device address matching.
The communication is working well. However, Wi-FI is interfering with my communications. This is not unexpected, since I am working the the ISM band (2.4GHZ), the same as many Wi-Fi routers.
My intention is to measure the RSSI of Wi-Fi channels 1, 6, and 11 (Center frequencies of 2412MHz, 2437MHz and 2462MHz), and then to not utilize the 10 1MHz channels spaced around the center frequency of the Wi-Fi channel with the strongest Tx output, in order to minimize interference.
My approach is to set up the radio in Rx mode, and then set the frequency to the center frequency of each of the three above mentioned frequencies. I will then measure the RSSI value for each channel.
However, it is unclear to me if the radio will measure the RSSI of ANY data coming in, or does it first need to receive data that is formatted according to the protocol listed under chapter 6.11.1, Packet configuration, in the nRF52805 data sheet, before it starts the RSSI measurement. Please clarify.
Thank you
