Strategy for scanning and connecting to a device advertising in coded phy

Here is what I want :
- a nrf52833 that advertises as coded phy
- another device than needs to scan and connect to the first in coded phy

On my nrf52833, s140 7.3.0, I successfuly advertised :
- as scannable and non-connectable => the second device scan it successfully, but can't connect
- as non-scannable and connectable => the second device cannot scan it. When hardcoding the mac address, it connects successfully

What is a good strategy here ?

Should my nrf52833 alternate between advertising as scannable one second, then connectable one second ?

  • In fact I succeeded scanning and connecting in "non-scannable and connectable" mode. I'm still puzzled by this naming

  • Hi Quentin,

Please be aware that when configuring as "non-scannable" it doesn't mean it can not be scanned.

"Non-scannable" mean that it doesn't response to scan request. It supports passive scanning (scanner scans for advertising packet and may send connect request) and doesn't support active scanning.

Active scanning is used when the advertiser has 2 packets, one is advertising packet and one is scan response packet. When a scanner do active scanning it will send scan request after it receives the advertising packet.
So "non-scanneable" is only applied for the scan response packet, and not for the advertising packet.
