In nrf52840 (ISP1807) can I flash programme from the processor directly if I have access of processor's UART ?

Hi,

Currently, I am using the nrf52840 (ISP1807) for my device, I am presently flashing it with my pc with nrf connect program and taking the necessary pin out from the PCB, Now I want to go for production with this chip.

In production, Do I have to flash chip one by one by taking its pin out from the PCB?

Is it possible that I can directly flash the chip with the processor connected with this chip on my device?

If it is possible then How can I do it, please anyone can help?

  • Hi,

    Assembly programming

It is generally a good idea to have the programming pins routed to pads on the PCB.
This will make you able to do more testing on the PCB after it is soldered.

However, assembly lines often offer programming as a service.
I think they can program the chips before soldering them to the PCB.

To get certain information about this, contact the assembly firm you intend to use.
If you do not know which firm you want to use for assembly, you can always try to ask the Nordic Semiconductor sales representatives in your area about recommendations.
    See https://www.nordicsemi.com/About-us/Contact-Us.

    Production Programmers

If you have used a debugger to program your devices using development, we do not support these for production. If you intend to program devices for productions yourself, you will need a production programmer.

Have a look at our nWP027 - nRF52832 Production Programming.
Even though this is for the nRF52832, the same should be relevant for the nrf52840.

See the list of production programmer in the whitepaper to see which ones we recommend.

The different programmers listed should have lists which chips they support, remember to have a look at these lists. For example SEGGER Flasher supported devices.
