GetErrorInfo failed: nrfjprog.dll load failed on Windows 7 x64 PC

Hi-

We are using the nrfjprog.exe v10.18.1 tool from the command line on a Windows 7 x64 PC and get the following error message when attempting run the tool, "GetErrorInfo failed: nrfjprog.dll load failed".   Using the "--log" option from the command line, doesn't provide further details. We've run the tool successfully on Windows 10 x64 PCs with no issues.  We've tried both the 32 and 64 bit versions of nrfjprog with no luck on the Windows 7 platform.

This issue is delaying our pre-production testing.  Would you be able help us resolve this issue?

    Is there any way you could update to Windows 10 or newer? We don't support Windows 7, our software is not tested for it, and unfortunately I don't have access to any Windows 7 machine to reproduce issue. I've tried searching for the errors you are getting but can't find anything related to Windows 7.

    For some toolchain related issues I have seen reinstalls solve the issue, and I see that there is one Win7 related case where downgrading was the solution, but this was for an NCS applet, not the toolchain. Still, you could try downgrading the toolchain until you hopefully find a version that doesn't give you the error, and still supports your device.

    However I strongly recommend you focus your efforts on updating the OS. Windows 7 reached end-of-life as of January 2020 and is no longer supported by Microsoft, and therefore also not by Nordic.
