nrf9160 SiP on custom board -

Hi,

I have made a custom board based on nrf9160 DK. The peripherals have been setup in the .dts file as followed:

Peripheral_0: spi0

Peripheral_1: spi1

Peripheral_2: uart2

Peripheral_3: i2c3

When running the program an error occurs: <err> at_host: Cannot bind UART_0 and <err> at_host: UART could not be initialized: -22.

The program runs fine on the nrf9160DK.

Hi,

The at_host defaults to uart0 if you do not set another UART in the devicetree.

I assume you want this to always be on uart2 for this board?
In that case you can set this in the "chosen" node in your board files:

/ {
    chosen {
        ncs,at-host-uart = &uart2;
    };
};

If this is application specific, it can be added through an overlay file.

The suggested fix do not seem to work when placed in the .dts file.. But when 

CONFIG_AT_HOST_UART_2=y is added to the prj.conf file it works?

Yes, it depends on the nRF Connect SDK version you are using. The solution I posted is for the latest SDK version.

On the documentation page, you can change the SDK version to see the relevant information for you.
For example, here is the documentation for v1.9.1 which suggests CONFIG_AT_HOST_UART_2:
