External power

I want to know if I can power my component from an external source without using USB. The development does not include the installation of the connector. Or the microchip can charge the battery and power the nRF-52 using only the USB connector.

  • if you use configuration 2, then there will be no charging process and no power converter?

  • Hi

I asked internally about this to clarify, and you do not have to use USB to use the BUCK converter and VoutB to power the connected chip. The buck converter is always available, but if you don't need it you can spare yourself an inductor and two decoupling caps. If so, the nRF52811 will only be able to be powered by VBAT. For now, you can add L1, C2 and C4 from configuration 3 to enable the Buck converter in designs not using USB.

I agree that there should be another configuration describing this use case, and have reported it internally. It will likely be added to the next revision of the nPM1100 product specification.

    Best regards,

    Simon
