But could we download python sources as previous versions (< 7.0.0) ?

Github repository stops with release revision 6.1.7.

The latest release (nrfutil 7.x.x) supports for programming over MCUboot.

AFAIK, you can call using the subprocess and change the traits. Like in this script the trait "jlink" is mentioned instead of that you can mentioned mcuboot, like mentioned here.
