ESD protection for various lines

Hello,

I am using the nRF52832 and am supposed to protect the lines SWDIO, SWDCLK, P0.21/nRESET and P0.30/AIN6 on our board with a TVS diode.
With the PESD3V3L4UG, the nRF52832 on our board withstands the desired levels.
However, I am concerned whether the 22pF of the TVS diode on the SWD lines, could cause programming problems?
Is there any experience on how much capacitance can be placed on the SWD lines or even the other lines without causing problems?

Hi Aleksander,

Added capacitance to the SWD lines are not recommended. The specification of the SoC's GPIOs is what you will need to adhere to. The programmer of choice will need to be capable of driving the lines quickly enough for the SoC to detect high and low signals. 

One approach is to lower the programming speed. Another is to increase the drive strength of your programmer. There might be programmers available with various capabilities.

I would recommend to test this.
