Custom board Programming nRF52840: Unsupported device. The detected device could not be recognized as neither JLink device nor Nordic USB device

Hi Team Nordic,

I have designed own custom board using nRF52840 and followed the thread Programming a custom board with an NRF52840 dev kit - Nordic Q&A - Nordic DevZone - Nordic DevZone (nordicsemi.com) for the connection to my customboard from nRF52840 DK for programming. But it is not detecting my board.

can someone help here?

Hi,

Could you please verify that you have actually correctly connected SWD IO and SWD CLK?

Could you check if your board is being powered? 
If there is no power, you could consider connecting your custom board power supply pin directly to VDD pin on the nRF52840-DK.

Hi,

Typical operating voltage of nRF52840 in normal operating mode is 3 V. If you have test point available at the output of the regulator on your custom board, you could consider supplying VDD (= 3 V) directly from the nRF52840-DK to that test point. In that case you would not need 5 V connection from DK to the regulator of your custom board.

Hi,

My custom PCB, I designed in such a way that the Vcc from (programming SWD) is going through the regulator. SO that is why I put 5V because of the regulator is step down type. Does the custom board detected as nRF52840 DK in programming app (of nRF Connect Dekstop--> Programmer)?

Hi,

If you have test point on your custom board, you could connect VDD from DK to the VDD net test point on your custom board. Then you could see if your custom board can be detected.

Thank you for your support. When I made the above given connection with proper supply to my custom board, in the nRF Connect Programmer app it get detected as nRF52840 DK. I hope here my custom device detected as nRF52840 DK, is that right? while programming with DK, custom board will dtected as nRF52840 DK? If so the board get detected now. it is working perfectly.

Since you are using nRF52840-DK for programming, this is expected.
