Regarding Bluetooth application on nRF9160DK

Hello .,

Iam working on the nRF9160DK,I want to test the Bluetooth gateway option of the board i.e., control the LED using the Bluetooth option from mobile phone or computer, I tried with the example 

("without thingy 51")Bluetooth: Peripheral LBS — nRF Connect SDK 2.2.0 documentation (nordicsemi.com) , implemented on the NRF9160dk with switch sw5 in nrf91 position and flashed on it and I program Bluetooth: HCI low power UART — nRF Connect SDK 2.2.99 documentation (nordicsemi.com) on the nrf52840 with sW5 in nrf51 position but Iam unable to connect through Bluetooth its troughing an error, someone please give me clarification on following questions:

1.can i use nrf9160dk for Bluetooth application.

2.What is process of running Bluetooth application on nrf9160DK with vs code. 

3. Can I test the board for Bluetooth application without thingy 51?"

Hello, 

Currently, the only sample that we have to support Bluetooth on the nRF9160DK is the nRF9160:LTE Sensor Gatway. The sample connects using Bluetooth LE to a Thingy:52 running the factory preloaded application, collects data and sends this to nRF Cloud. This does not support Thingy:51, and our nRF Connect SDK does not support nRF51 series.

so the final conclusion from the information given by you is we cannot use the nrf9160DK directly for the Bluetooth applications and its need an extra device named as thingy52 to interface the Bluetooth enabled devices or peripherals to the nrf9160DK to perform Bluetooth applications and the nrf9160developer.nordicsemi.com/.../README.html works like sensors to thingy52 through Bluetooth connection and thingy52 to development kit through LTE signal.
