How to configure printf statements

Hello everyone

i am trying to add printf statements inorder to see the excution of the program can anyone sugges tme how to printf statemtns in app_uart example!? i would like to include start advertsing printf statements whent it is advertising and connected statement once it getconnected to the device any examples or suggestion will be helpful
