This is difficult. The antenna is strongly dependent on the size and shape if the ground plane. The larger the ground plane, the more even the radiation pattern will become. But it's very common to have dips or "holes" in the radiation patters since the antenna is usually placed near the edge of the PCB.
For instance the nRF52-DK have a radiation pattern that looks like this:
Antenna end at 0 degrees. This is a 1/4 wave monopole antenna. For ceramic antennas, the radiation pattern if often shown in the datasheet for the antenna, but for a specific PCB size. A smaller design will have more dip.
With AOD, do you mean the tag that emits the BLE packet with CTE? If so, you can use any antenna on the tag side.
