nRF8001 DK

Hi,

I have just opened my nRF8001 DK. It seems like for the evaluation of the nRF8001, I also need to purchase a nRFgo Motherboard, which is sold separetely.

Where does it say explicitly, that I need extra HW compenent, in order to use the nRF8001 kit?

Without this motherboard, does it mean, that I cannot do anything?

Thanks, Omer

  • Hi,

The nRF8001 is a connectivity chip so it requires a additional MCU.

You can have the MCU of your choice as the additional MCU. The Arduino provides a choice of MCU. The nRFgo motherboard is also a choice of MCU (it comes with the connectors for the 8051 that is included with the nRF8001 DK). The nRFgo motherboard is the typical option that is used with the DK however there are other options.

You can also choose to use the nRF8001 DK with ARM M0 and ARM M3 development boards (lpc1769 or lpc1114) and these are also choices that you have. You can also use the Maple (leaflabs.com) as the MCU or any of the launchpads, but you do need the MCU.

My apologies for any confusion caused.

    Thank
