Unable to use mcumgr cli over ble from linux(debian11 and ubuntu18/16) running on virtual machine

Hi,
I have 1# nRF52840DK board running example within NCS\v2.0.0\zephyr\samples\subsys\mgmt\mcumgr\smp_svr

and this board can be connected with Android or IOS phone to perform DFU actions. it works fine.

The 2# nRF52840DK board running example within NCS\v2.0.0\zephyr\samples\bluetooth\hci_usb

when i plug this board with usb interface on my laptop, this board can be recognized by the ubuntu18.04 in the virtual machine.

This 2# nRF52840DK also works good with bluetoothctl tool within ubuntu to perform actions like scan, connect ,etc to communicate with 1# nRF52840DK.

My ultimate goal is to use mcumgr cmd tool to upload/download file to device with Linux.

MCUmgr — Zephyr Project Documentation  i got this result follow the steps in the previous link.

  1.          
          go install github.com/apache/mynewt-mcumgr-cli/mcumgr@latest
  2. > sudo ./mcumgr --conntype ble --connstring ctlr_name=hci0,peer_name='Zephyr' echo hello
    Error: can't scan: Invalid HCI Command Parameters

the output of btmon tool is show in bellow and you can check attachment for complete logs either.

    Looks like there's some parameter that is not enabled by default. Could you try to configure and flash the hci_usb with these added configurations?

  • I compiled the example smp_svr with overlay-all-bt_ll_sw_split.conf, and the program generated the same error.

    I compared the differences in the HCI command content between the two apps "bluetoothctl" and "newtmgr(mcumgr)". 

    1.bluetoothctl

    The bluetoothctl tool within linux can initiate scanning operations because it first sets itself as a random address.

    2.newtmgr

    newtmgr tool provide by apache.org are as same as mcumgr.

    when it set scan action enable, the HCI received event show the scan parameter transmitted in last command are wrong.

    I wonder if anybody has encountered this problem? How to make the scanning parameter setting steps of the newtmgr tool correct?
