Programming Raytac MDBT40 (nRF51822 based) for LED blinking

Dear Nordic family,

I tried programming Raytac MDBT40 with the LED blinking code (taken from the example project of SDK 8) which worked with nRF51822 Bluetooth Low Energy BLE 4 and 2.4GHz Wireless Communication Module (purchased from exploreembedded).

Its getting programmed, but the LED is not blinking.

It there any extra software or hardware settings required for programming MDBT40?

  • Still no luck with nRFgo studio. But the LED blinks and the BLE device is visible from the app (its not getting connected though. We will figure it out)

The main problem mistake we made was that we didn't connect external crystal.

It works when we connected 32MHz crystal and 12pF (/22pF) from both of its ends to ground.

Thanks for the support @Martin Børs-Lind

  • 32MHz or 32kHz? Because we have a 32MHz crystal, but no 32kHz LFKC. The BLE stuff seems to work, but only if I do not initialize UART
