The bug described in the Changelog for nRF Connect for Desktop (Windows 64-bit) 4.1.1 is still there. I just got it while trying to upgrade an old installation of nRF Connect on my PC.
"When nRF Connect for Desktop was never installed on a computer before, a misleading error message (Unable to retrieve the official source from …) was shown, and it was impossible to install any apps."
The description matches what I'm seeing except my PC had maybe a 2 or 3 year old installation of nRF Connect on it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice but the problem is still there. Closing the error message and trying to open Bluetooth Low Energy results in a JavaScript error window.
Here is the text from the error window I get at startup:
Unable to retrieve the official source from https://developer.nordicsemi.com/.pc-tools/nrfconnect-apps/source.json.
This is usually caused by a missing internet connection. Without retrieving that file, official apps cannot be installed.
