Is BLE advertising always on when Bluetooth is not in use?

This is a rather basic question that the manufacturer does not know. 

I have a Igenix IG9600 WIFI Smart air purifier that connects via Alexa, and so I presume it connects using Bluetooth. There is no on-off button or app setting for Wifi functionality, so I presume the Bluetooth is always enabled and ready/ on; although the device can still be operated manually.

My question: when the air purifier is on but no attempt is made to connect a wireless device to it, will the device always be BLE advertising, or is it possible that the BLE advertising goes into a standby mode and only listens for, ready to advertise?

A bluetooth le peripherial device needs to advertize in order to be connectable at all.

You can infer constant advertising if there is no other user interaction needed (like pressing a button).

The nrf connect app allows you to check that, it displays the advertisements and also the last time it recieved one.

Turbo is correct - the nRF Connect Bluetooth application is the quickest way to check if your device is advertising or not.

If you need to go a little more in depth into its advertising you could also check out the nRF Sniffer Tool which will also tell you the contents of the advertising, and frequency, etc.
