Antenna selection?

Hi Sir,

I am using nordic nRF51822 IC for Tracking Application for that Which antenna is best ?

I have seen two type of antenna .

1. zig zag pcb antenna
2. straight pcb antenna

so please give the suggestion ,which is suitable for this application.

The pros and cons of the two antenna layouts are listed below. It basically boils down to how much space you have on your PCB.

¼ Wave PCB Antenna

• Easy to implement
• Easy to tune (length and/or external components)
• Relatively large
• Not 50 ohm initially (36ohm at resonance)
• High bandwidth
• Best solution if space is not a issue

Meander Antenna

• Small, but has less gain
• Must be tuned (length and/or external components)
• Lower bandwidth than a ¼ wave antenna
