nrf9160 BOR reset

Hi,

we have developed nrf9160 custom board in that i we are facing one strange issue.

The issue is nrf9160 is doing BOR rest when we put in a plastic ABS case  and we are using 4-AA Size batteries which have 3.6v and 2500mah capacity for each battery.

the rest is happening when only nrf9160 is in plastic case fully closed. when its outside of the plastic case and didn't closed top plastic lid its working fine.

for more understanding please see the below images.

nrf9160 not restting when nrf9160 put in case like this  but when i close the top its continuous giving BOR Reset and the antenna was stick to the top closing lid.

is any interference happening with antenna and battery?

    There are a few possibilities here. First, the radiation from the antenna can cause the reset when you close the lid. Does it matter where the antenna is placed, what happens if you move it? 

    Second, the antenna is de-tuned when you close the lid. This will cause the modem to assume it's further away from the base station and increase the output power and draw a higher current from the battery. If the battery can't handle the higher current, the voltage will drop and POR will happen. If you hook up an oscilloscope to the VDD pin of the nRF9160, you can confirm this.

    Can you experiment a bit to see if it's the lid itself or the antenna placement that is causing this.

    we have already tried to keep the antenna out side of case and we closed the top lid then also its getting BOR reset.

    we are using flex Antenna which is ANT-LPC-FPC-100
