nRF Connect for Desktop installation fails with specified module not found

Hi there, 

We are trying to install the latest version of nRF connect for Desktop on a clean Windows 10 Virtual Machine. Installation succeeds without any error messages. The installation of any apps (e.g. Toolchain manager) is also successful without any error messages. However, when opening Toolchain manager, we get the following error message:

The firewall is disabled when installing.

Can you please advise what the problem here might be asap?

Hello Frikkie,

We were just made aware of a similar issue from another forum-goer and this is still being examined by the nRF Connect application team.

Could you try to install Node manually and see if that resolves your issue?
If it does not it would also be great if you could install Chocolatey according to the instructions in the SDK documentation, and see if that resolves your issue.

Thanks Karl! Will try this manual setup.

I do hope this gets sorted out quickly, as it is indeed a bit frustating when considering the amount of engineering hours we have spent the last year or so just to get installations and upgrades on Connect for Desktop working.

You do not need to do the full 'manual installation' steps immediately, for now you can just try to install Nodejs manually, and then Chocolately specifically (as detailed in the Manual installation steps) to see if these resolve your issue. If neither does then you may move on to the full manual installation, but hopefully this will not be necessary.

Yes, I completely understand this frustration - nothing is worse than setting up tools that are meant to work 'out of the box' only to discover a bug which prevents it from even launching. I too hope we are able to resolve this quickly! :)

Thanks :)Toolchain Manager is opening so far at least after installing Node and Choco. Installing the toolchain now - hope that goes well.

Hi Karl,

So we have another issue after installing the toolchain (succesffully with no error messages.

When opening VSCode from the toolchain manager, we get prompted to install all the missing toolchains:

When clicking "install the missing extensions", everything appears to install successfully:

Now, when clicking "Open VS Code" from the above window, it just takes us back to the following:

Is there a manual installation process here? If so could you please advise the steps?

All extensions were installed manually from within VS Code. Thanks for the assistance!
