Connect to NRF cloud using the Serial LTE Modem sample

Hi,

The NCS version I am using is 2.4.0

I have a 91DK which has a modem firmware of 1.3.5. I also have flashed the serial_lte_modem hex file. I saw that we can connect to NRF cloud using the asset tracker V2 hex file. Wanted to know if it is possible to do the same with serial lte modem hex file.

Yes, this should be possible. If the version in the precompiled package does not support nRF Cloud connectivity, you might need to build Serial LTE Modem with nRF Cloud support. More information can be found under nRF Cloud AT commands in the SLM documentation.

Thanks for the early reply. I went on the page and it said that we have to add a Kconfig Option for it to work. When I add it I get this error:-

It says that unknown symbol CONFIG_SLM_NRF_CLOUD

The modem trace seems to be a little short. Can you please retry the modem trace, make sure to enable reset device on start and refresh dashboard on start.

Mobile termination error notification +CMEE <err> values are specified in 3GPP TS 27.007 Ch. 9.2 - in this case 0 equals phone failure. From the modem trace you provided, I see you are using iBasis. Have you registered and activated the iBasis SIM on nRF Cloud? Do you have data on the SIM?

Hi,

I believe this should be the entire modem trace file. I kept it going for 30 minutes and the file size stayed the same and some time:-

trace-2024-01-04T15-36-14.021Z.mtrace

The ibasis is registered on the NRF Cloud and has 10 Mb left

Can't see anything out of the ordinary from the modem trace. Do you get the same behavior from running the Asset Tracker v2?

I remember when I did it with asset tracker v2, it showed that lte was connected. Is there a way to do that after the board shows on NRF Cloud

I'm not sure if I understand your question.

If you reprogram your device with Asset Tracker v2, does it give the same issues? Also, before programming this application, can you please connect to your DK with the J-Link RTT viewer. This should give more information from the SLM application itself.

I believe the problem could be that it shows that my sim card is not connected to any device. Is there a way to connect my sim card to the device

The SIM does not matter in regards to what device it is connected to. As long as your SIM has data and is able to connect to a network. 


You can check the connection using AT commands in the Serial LTE Monitor:

No, the response from XNRFCLOUD? (read) shows that it is not connected (0). Are you still using the precompiled .hex file for 2.4.0 or 2.5.0? Will need to ask our developers on this.

It is .hex file 2.5.0. Also, how should I contact the developers?
