Flashing Application onto nRF52840 USB Dongle

Yes and no.

You need either the DK or a J-Link debug probe in addition to the dongle for the above flashing method - as described.

But even if I have the nrf82540 USB dongle device, do I still need the J-Link debug probe ? and i want to flash the .hex file, will the dongle alone be sufficient?

As Turbo pointed out, you need an external debug probe if you want  to reprogram the dongle through the debug interface. Alternatively, you can upload the hex file via DFU over the USB interface, but this requires the application to be linked to start at address 0x1000. i just have a small question. If I generate the .hex file for the nRF52840 and flash it using DFU via nRF Connect, Then i don't  require for J-Link or SWD?
