Is it possible that nRF905 transmits well but does not receive well?

Hi.

We are developing a test equipment for devices that use nRF905. The devices use single ended connection for 50 Ohms antenna and layout recommended by datasheet (nRF905 datasheet, revision 1.5, figure 14). We achieve the measurement of RF transmitted power. But we still have the following questions:

  1. Is it possible that nRF905 transmit well but do not receive well?

  2. If the answer for the previous question was "yes": What can cause this type of failure? Where specifically the causes would be (e.g. chip internal problems, bad solder connections at external components)?

    1. No. If the device is transmitting well it should receive well as well. The chip itself has been tested for both TX and RX in chip production. On the board the same matching circuits and antenna is used for both TX and RX. If the TX is of the correct strength and on the correct frequency, then RX would be OK as well.

    Also: If TX is not on the correct frequency, then RX will also be off. This would be because of problems with the crystal. If TX is weak, then RX will also be weak. This could be because of bad matching network, bad solder connection, bad antenna, &c.
