nrf52832 or nrf52840

Hello everyone, I am planning to make a wireless keyboard, and one of the requirements is that it has a long battery life, so I am very concerned about the power consumption of the chip. Currently, there are two models to choose from, nrf52832 and nrf52840.

According to the datasheet, the nrf52832 has lower operating and sleep power consumption, but the voltage should be within 3V, so an additional buck converter is needed for the lithium battery supply.

I would like to ask, from the perspective of power consumption, is the nrf52832 with the added buck converter lower or the nrf52840 without the need for a buck converter lower? Thank you!

  • Thank you for your reply, I will try the link above. Additionally, the extra information is that the power supply is a 5-volt lithium battery, with an external crystal oscillator, the I/O port is used for keyboard matrix detection, communication with the dongle at 2.4G, and under the same communication content and frequency, is the power consumption of the nRF52840 lower?
