How to Pair Matter Light Bulb and Light Switch Over Thread Without an OTBR Using nRF52840?

"I am working on a project involving Matter over Thread using the nRF52840 development kits. My goal is to pair and communicate between the light_bulb and light_switch Matter sample applications directly, without using an OpenThread Border Router (OTBR).

Hi,

This is technically possible, but it won't get you anywhere. You can subscribe to attribute reports without a OTBR/a hub, but if you want to control anything you need to edit access control, which requires a Matter controller (for instance the OTBR or a 3rd party commercial Matter compatible hub). What you in practice will get is a light switch that can listen to the state of the light bulb, but nothing more (which I hope you can agree is not very useful).
