cant program nrf9160 board

hello, when trying to program my 9160 board, I get this:

I already tried the recover command but that yielded the same results.
thanks in advance

  • Hi Shlomo,

I have a few suggestions for you to check:

    1. Have you tested with other USB cables? Poor-quality cables can sometimes cause issues.
    2. Have you tried the same setup with other boards to see if the issue persists?
    3. Could you try using nRF Connect for Desktop -> Programmer to program the device?
    4. Are you using a custom board or an nRF9160DK?
    5. If this is a custom board, have you request hw reveiw for your schematic and PCB layout before?

Please let me know the results so I can assist you further.

    Best regards,
    Charlie

  • First of all, thank for the replay charlie!

    Now to your questions:

    1. I did

    2. Yes i tried it on a dk and it worked.

    3. I did, it doesnt work as well, at fails even when all I do is pressing the erase all option.

    4. It is a custom board

    5. I am not sure exactly what HW review means.

  • Hi Shlomo,

Do you mean all your custom boards has this issue or just one of them?

We offer free HW review for our customers to help avoid such kind of HW issues. You can create a private ticket to share you schematic and PCB layout/gerber files for reveiw help.

    Best regards,

    Charlie

  • at this point I am still not sure if it is on all HW devices or only this one.
I only have access to this one.
but this problem is similer to one that I encounter on another dk as well.
for instance on a nrf5340dk I get this:

which is different, but it acts in similar fashion, this error is thrown even at the erase all phase on the programmer. and all of the above ways to fix it were tried.
I wonder if the root cause is the same.
can you point me to the documentation of the error numbers in these cases?

  • ok I fixed it, something on my board hardware kept the 9160 part turned off.
but the problem I have with the nrf5340dk (the photo on the last comment) still persists.
