nRF tools required for programming boards with nRF52840

I need to build a PC-based workstation (Windows 10) for programming our boards that contain a nRF52840.  Do I need to download / install the command line tools and the nRF Connect for Desktop software ??  Is there a 'minimum' library that I can get / use to meet this requirement ??

Hi, 

Both tools can program the board. nRF Command Line Tools is operated via commands; nRF Connect for Desktop/Programmer by GUI. It depends on your favor.

Programmer app/Overview and user interface 

While installing the J-Link Firmware, please ensure to select the option to "Install legacy USB Driver for J-Link" which needs to be checked in order to have all DKs/devices recognized. See this case.
