The current measurement values of the Fluke equipment and the PPK2 are very different.

After purchasing the PPK2, I connected the Fluke287 and PPK2 Ampere meter in series to check whether the measured values matched the Fluke equipment.

The Fluke287 consistently checked 37uA, but the PPK checked about 3uA, so the difference is too big. What is the reason?

  • Hi Jooyeol,

Can you show a picture of your setup?

    Best regards,

    Charlie

  • I can`t take picture so I attached the circuit diagram I tested.

in this case, Fluke287 consistently checked 37uA but PPK2 checked about 3uA.

so... I tried another simple test.

When I use 1Mohm, Fluke checked 1uA that is correct.

but PPK2 checked 500nA ~ 800nA shaked that is incorrect.

When I use 1kohm, Fluke checked 1mA that is correct.

    but PPK2 checked 25uA. it`s too low.

is there something wrong with the software setting? All the settings in the PPK2 software are default

  • This is correct picture below

and then I selected Ampere meter. not Source meter.

I already checked Source meter`s Accuracy has no problem.

and I don`t have second unit.

  • I think PPK2 GND should share the same GND with Power Supply. Could you try connect their GND?

    Best regards,

    Charlie

  • This will not work. Read through the user guide for the PPK2, this shows all ways to connect loads that will work and don't try other options as they are not supported.

You need to connect the Power Supply to VIN and GND and then you connect the 1M resistor from VOUT to GND if you want to test the current through the resistor..

  • I did as you guided. then I can measure value is almost same with Fluke. Thanks!

Where in the user guide is this explained?

When I checked at below page. I couldn`t find guide on circuit connections when measuring ampere mode on a custom board

  • Good to hear! Thanks  for sharing the correct method.

I will provide a feedback to our document team to add a general guideline for Ampere meter mode.
