nRF5340 AUDIO DK

Question

Hello, 
 We are considering to develop an appliance based on the nRF5340 AUDIO DK. 
 The nRF5340 AUDIO DK contains the VM3011-U1microphone that is absolute on the market. 
 Does Nordic has a recommended substituted microphone that has a low power always-on Sound Detection feature?

Hi, 
 Nordic does unfortunately not have any list over components that we recommend over other for components such as microphones. You will have to do any required evaluation yourself w.r.t the scope of your project and to make sure that your components fits the electrical characteristics of the board and SoC you're using.

Hi again Amos, 
 That's a good follow up question. There might've come a new reference design with for instance a different PDM microphone, but I haven't found one. The previous reply I got from the Audio team a few months back was that we didn't have a preferred component for a new PDM microphone, and that when evaluating a new one the following had to be considered 
 
 PDM interface on nRF5340 would only support 16KHz, cannot be higher 
 Customer would need to check the PDM part from nRF5340 for choosing the proper component. 
 Customer would need to check the VIO setting, since now it is 1.8v on nRF5340 ADK, but nRF5340 can also support 3v IO 
 
 I will check in again with the team if this has changed, but a reply may have to wait until after Easter (around the 22nd).
