7002dk mqtt demo connect to router problem

hi support team,

I was testing 7002dk with a Asus router,i found two questions:

1.5340tfm jump to application taks about 8 seconds, why it takes so much time?

2.7002dk could never connect to Asus router once it is disconnected.(pc and mobile phone don't have such problem)

i have input the debug log in attachment, please help to look at this problem.

7607.7002dk_connect_error_log.txt

3. i also see a hardfault problem:

  • Hi,

1.5340tfm jump to application taks about 8 seconds, why it takes so much time?

Looks like there's a secure side log on timestamp at 1 and 9, so why do you mean that this is tfm?

It is too little info for me to state anything on what happens in this scenario, unfortunately.

7002dk could never connect to Asus router once it is disconnected.(pc and mobile phone don't have such problem)

Do you see the same issue if you use wifi/shell for instance?

    3. i also see a hardfault problem:

Likely because there's a disconnect/reconnect scenario, and the application re-uses already closed sockets. When the network goes down, so does the sockets/connection towards the server. You will have to re-establish such connection again before starting to send data.

    Kind regards,

    Håkon

  • Thanks Hakon,

for problem 1, sorry for whatever i thought it was, it costs 8 to 9 seconds anyway.how can we reduce this time, it is not acceptable.

this is mqtt demo by defualt.

for problem 2, what should i do to collect more information if you need it?

for problem 3, it is clear.

    Regards,

    William.

Which firmware are you specifically using? Can you please link it here?

Does the connection work if you run any other sample? Please share log output.

    Which AP model is this?

    Kind regards,

    Håkon

  • Thanks Hakon,

    for problem 1:

    it is ncs3.0.0.

i was testing mqtt with 7002ek,

          v3.0.0\nrf\samples\net\mqtt----problem.

however, there is no such problem in scan and shell.

          v3.0.0\nrf\samples\wifi\shell----ok

          v3.0.0\nrf\samples\wifi\scan----ok

i think you can reproduce this.100% percent you can reproduce this problem.

    for problem 2:

    i will try other routers.

    Regards,

    William.

  • Hi,

I believe the issue you are seeing with the log is because the wifi thread is scanning and actively trying to connect, and thus blocking the log thread from running.

By adding CONFIG_LOG_MODE_IMMEDIATE=y to the prj.conf file, you can see that the application is effectively blocked due to this scan/connect procedure:

    *** Booting nRF Connect SDK v3.0.2-89ba1294ac9b ***

  • hi Hakon,

i don't think it is related to this config: CONFIG_LOG_MODE_IMMEDIATE=y

    1.

scan and connect wouldn't cost so much time, normally4-5 seconds, but you see it costs 15 seconds in your log.

"Network connectivity established" costs 15 seconds, is because there is 8 to 9 seconds we blocked somewhere, we can see the current is 15uA.

to prove my point of view, i change this config in boards/nrf7002dk_nrf5340_cpuapp_ns.conf

    CONFIG_WIFI_NM_WPA_SUPPLICANT_LOG_LEVEL_DBG=y
    # CONFIG_WIFI_NM_WPA_SUPPLICANT_LOG_LEVEL_ERR=y
and i can't see any log here

    2.

for another demo SHELL. connect to network costs 8 seconds.

here is the log from shell:

    from "[11:05:56.514]wifi connect -s Nordic_ASUS -k 1 -p Nordic20201908"

to "11:06:04.785 Connected", it costs only 8 seconds.

    3.for another demo scan:

scan costs only4.6 seconds, and there is no block before scan:

in other words, did find that mqtt demo is quite slow in wifi connection?

  • hi Hakon,

i don't think it is related to this config: CONFIG_LOG_MODE_IMMEDIATE=y

    1.

scan and connect wouldn't cost so much time, normally4-5 seconds, but you see it costs 15 seconds in your log.

"Network connectivity established" costs 15 seconds, is because there is 8 to 9 seconds we blocked somewhere, we can see the current is 15uA.
