nRF54L15 shows VREGMAIN.INDUCTORDET=0 (Inductor not detected), but DCDC converter appears to be running.

Hello,

I am evaluating the nRF54L15 for potential use in a new product. I did some measurements of the average current consumption and the vaues were a bit higher than i was expecting. Among other things i checked also the status of the DCDC converter. It is enabled in the Software (VREGMAIN.DCDCEN = 1) and the necessary external components are also present on our custom board. I also checked the inductor and it appears to be OK. But the Inductor detected status shows an inductor failure (VREGMAIN.INDUCTORDET = 0).

I did a measurement of the voltages at DCC, DECD and DECA_RF pins, and it looks like the DCDC converter is running:

So my question is: how do i interpret the VREGMAIN.INDUCTORDET register correctly? Am i doing something wrong here?

The marking on the CPU is N54L15QFAAB0, so it should a Revision 1.

Hi!

As per, https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ps_nrf54L15/page/regulators.html#ariaid-title9 , we have the following sentence: "The detection can only take place if the DC/DC converter is not enabled (VREGMAIN.DCDCEN = 0)" , so since DCDCEN = 1, it makes sense to me that you don't get a valid results in INDUCTORDET
