Power Profiler App logic analyser displays fast signals as LOW for slow t/div setting

Hi

I am capturing a digital signal with the nRF PowerProfiler Kit II from my board that can either be 12Hz or 2kHz depending on the state of my application.

In the below screenshot the horizontal axis is set to 1sec. The 12Hz toggle is visible, but for the time with high current consumption logic analyser line is flat on LOW State:

When zooming in to horizontal 100ms it can be seen that data line is not LOW, but toggles at a higher frequency (2KHz):

So the Power Profiler has correctly sampled the data, but the display for slow speed settings is not correct. It should look like this:

It would be really helpful if the Power Profler software would show this fast activity as a thick line between high and low to point out that there is a signal present.

Hoping that you could integrate this is in the software.

I am using Power Profiler v4.3.1 on Win10.

Best regards

  • Hello,

Can you please elaborate a bit what you mean with slow and fast speed settings?

The 12Hz toggle is visible, but for the time with high current consumption logic analyser line is flat on LOW State:

Are you sure that the line you are tracing is actually going high? Is there any way for me to reproduce what you are seeing using a PPK and some sort of DK running an application? Do you have an application that I can use to reproduce the behavior that you are seeing?

    Best regards,

    Edvin

  • Dear Edvin,

    thanks for checking this issue.

Please check the attached data log.

     ppk2-20250915_log.ppk2

With timebase set to 10sec there is 12 Hz Signal present on Chan1, but there seems to be no data in red marked area:

With timebase set to 1sec still no data in red marked area

With timebase set to 100ms there is data visible starting at 796

In the two previous screenshots there should be an indication that there is further (high speed) data present that requires analysis with a faster timebase. With the display like this the fast signals might be overlooked. I have proposed to draw a thick line between Low and High to show that the is a high speed signal present.
